Jennifer Jahner joined the deans' office in 2023 and has been thrilled ever since at the chance to work with Caltech students across their whole careers at the Institute. In addition to her role as Dean of Undergraduate Studies, she is an English professor in the Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences. In her research life, she studies medieval literature and history, focusing on the importance of humanities training to the disciplines of law and science. She loves teaching Caltech undergraduates and offers courses in law and literature, monsters and marvels, and the history of gender and sexuality, among others. More about Dean Jahner's research and teaching can be found on her faculty website: https://www.hss.caltech.edu/people/jennifer-jahner
Dean Jahner's favorite pastimes include traveling—rare book libraries are her favorite—and being outdoors. Raised in Montana, she has also lived in New York City, Philadelphia, and London. She enjoys going to concerts and plays, hiking with her dog, playing board games, and trying new foods.
